2025 bursary scheme
Following the incredible success of the 2023 and 2024 bursary schemes, Rachel Harris (@accountant_she) is back with the most ambitious programme yet. The 2025 Bursary Scheme has been carefully designed to provide an individual who is unable to fund their AAT studies with everything they need to begin — and thrive in — a career in accounting. With every cost covered and so much more included, this is a truly life-changing opportunity.
Applications for the 2025 Bursary will open on 1st June and close on 30th June 2025, with successful candidates notified in July. The bursary is open to anyone ready to commit to their AAT qualification but held back by financial barriers. Whether you’re starting fresh, switching careers, or returning to work, this scheme could be the catalyst for your next chapter.
But this bursary is more than just financial support. In addition to covering the full cost of an AAT Level of your choice through First Intuition’s award-winning online programme, the scheme offers a powerful wrap-around support package. This includes a study planner, physical and digital course materials, pre-recorded lectures, tutor-marked mocks with feedback, and unlimited tutor support. All exam fees (one attempt per exam) are fully covered too.
You’ll also receive a one-on-one mentoring session from Rachel Harris and other industry leaders, a CV and interview preparation package tailored to the finance industry, and access to FreeAgent’s CPD-accredited webinars and FreeAgent certification! You’ll also gain real-world training through our exclusive Practice Makes Perfect™ course. Plus, a September Kickoff Day will bring all bursary students together for a full day of workshops, LinkedIn coaching, community building, and inspiration from Rachel and the FreeAgent team.

We have over 800 clients which is supported by a business services team which prepares bookkeeping, VAT returns, CIS returns and management accounts for our clients. We have an accounts team which prepares sole trader accounts, company accounts, partnership accounts, corporation tax returns, self-assessment tax returns and research & development tax returns. We have an administration team which supports the accounts team, the outsourcing team, onboard new clients and support partners of the firm. When all of Rachel’s friends went off to university and she was working 9-5 at an apprenticeship, she lost that sense of community. Her friend’s had hoodies and t-shirts with their university placements on and she felt alone.
